Serving For Tsunami Relief Tv Update

It was not a “True Hollywood Story” but a night of tennis, laughs, and serving up some fun for a good cause that premiered Thursday night on E! Entertainment Television.

Andy was among the participants of the Houston-based event, which was partly coordinated by Jim MacIngvale, the tennis promoter and tournament director of the Houston Clay Court Championships as well as former No. 1 Jim Courier’s production company InsideOut Sports and Entertainment Group. “Serving for Tsunami Relief” also starred Tommy Haas, who played Andy in the singles feature match, John McEnroe, Chris Evert, Jim Courier, Anna Kournikova, Dr. Phil, and former Houston Rocket Clyde Drexler.

Besides great tennis (Haas vs Roddick went to a tiebreak), the event, which benefits the Bush-Clinton Tsunami Relief Fund, serves up great laughs. You can watch Andy exchange forehands with Anna Kournikova as well as quips. They will argue about who is flirting with whom, while Chris Evert asks the question on everybody’s mind, have they ever dated? You will have to watch the event to hear Andy’s response, which gets him chased off court by Chris Evert. Andy also imitates Anna’s grunt and performs an impromptu sing and dance medley—perhaps a la Enrique Iglesias, Anna’s off-court partner.

Besides the laughs on court, you can catch the pro singles match between Andy and Tommy Haas, the championship singles match between John McEnroe and Jim Courier, the celebrity doubles match between Kournikova/Dr. Phil and Evert/Drexler, and of course one of the highlights, the pro doubles match which pins Kournikova playing opposite Andy, who partnered with Evert, leaving the blonde Russian in good hands with the king of quips, John McEnroe.

If you missed the action, don’t worry because on February 23 beginning at 6 AM EST, The Tennis Channel will air twenty-four hours of coverage, which includes the entire three hour event.

If you can’t wait for the show, you can check out highlights at the link below. We won’t spoil the fun for fans who want to be kept in suspense, so we won’t give away the results, but you can find out who got the best of whom on the ATP official website, www.atptennis.com.
