Andy Breezes Past Lee In Memphis Opener

It was another day at the office for Andy tonight, where it took him less than an hour to defeat his first round opponent Hyung-Taik Lee of Korea.

The pair has become quite familiar with such meetings, this being their ninth all together, and their second in two weeks. Lee and Roddick met just last week in San Jose in the round of 16, where the defending champion was taken to three sets before prevailing. Andy had less trouble tonight, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Andy broke once in each set to seal his victory and had an excellent serving day, blasting 11 aces with no double faults. The first set started out strong, with Andy registering nine aces and converting his lone breaker, but things slowed down a bit in the second set, where he was 1/4 in break point opportunities. Lee certainly made it a close race, but Andy settled in, wrapping things up to advance to the second round, where he will meet Arnaud Clement who was taken to three sets in his opening round match against Davide Sanguinetti. Andy has not played the Frenchman since 2002 when Clement took both of their career meetings, which were played on clay.

Their match is slated to take place on Stadium Court tomorrow not before 7:30 p.m. (EST).
