“my Ride” Tour Wrapped Up

It was a road trip that spanned three states in four days as Andy teamed up with his Davis Cup pals Mardy Fish and the Bryans brothers to headline a cross-country tennis exhibition tour.

“I have always talked to my friends about taking a road trip around the country and just taking time to really get to know people who might not follow tennis or who may never have been to a professional tennis match,” Andy said and his wish came true.

The tour kicked off in Minnesota, where Andy played a best of three set match against Mardy, winning 6-3, 6-3. Next up was a legend Andre Agassi, who also teamed up with Andy for Rock-n-Racquets in its inaugural year in Miami. This time the meeting place was Mobile, Alabama and the pressure was on both players to get the best of the other as they had split their two prior meetings in exhibition format.

Andy went on to beat Andre 7-6, 7-6 in Mobile in the third annual Rock-n-Racquets, an event that benefits both players’ charities.

The following night, the stage was set at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where Andy was to take on Mardy once again as the Bryans teamed up to play against locals Brian Baker and Bobby Reynolds.

Andy made it three for three on Saturday night, defeating Mardy 6-3, 7-6 to cap off a great week of tennis. Hopefully, he can carry the winning streak onto the 2005 season.

The Bryans were also successful, defeating the hometown heroes.

Afterwards, everyone took some well-deserved rest and recognition at a tour wrap-up party before heading their separate ways.
