ANDY is featured in two ESPN Sports Center ads that are being rolled out beginning this week. In typical ESPN fashion, the ads are humorous, often poking fun at the athletes and anchors appearing in them.
One spot is called “Nickname.” The No. 2 player in the world is in the ESPN offices in Bristol, Conn., trying to figure out why Sports Center anchors do not call him “A-Rod,” giving that nickname instead to New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
In the second spot, titled “Idle Hands,” Andy is in a waiting area on the ESPN campus and passes the time by bouncing a ball off his racquet. His restlessness is much to the consternation of those around him, including ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt and the University of Massachusetts’ Minuteman mascot.
In addition to these spots, ESPN will also feature Andy in a “Budweiser Hot Seat” segment that will air on Nov. 17 to coincide with the network’s coverage of The Tennis Masters Cup from Houston.
