There is definitely some excitement about going to your first professional tennis match. The stands, the chair umpire…you’ll swear you can even smell the fresh tennis balls. And of course, the players…up close and seemingly giant. The sounds cannon through the stadium as they put their whole effort into a shot. Yes. Exciting is the word.

What if your first professional tennis match is at the ever-brimming-with-electricity Grand Slam event known as the US Open? We’re entering the territory of thrilling now.

And let’s say that first match (at the US Open, of course) happened to be a match in which your favorite tennis star, none other than Andy Roddick, was competing! Okay, now this is getting to the level of out-of-this-world exhilaration.

Now, just suppose after this first match you personally meet Andy Roddick. Well this enters the realm of pinch-me-I-must-be-dreaming. Certainly too good to be true…

Believe it! Because this is exactly what happened to Krista at this year’s US Open.

Krista Alice Hornyak (Member Name: andyrocks!) won the AR.com poetry contest earlier this summer and the results eventually found her face-to-face with Andy Roddick after a full day of excitement at Flushing Meadows. Krista met not only Andy, but his parents and some of the staff here at AR.com as well. To sum it all up Krista offers, “It was AWESOME!!!”
