Andy Roddick extended his winning streak at Flushing Meadows to ten match wins today, defeating Guillermo Canas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3.
To date, Roddick has not dropped a set on his way to the fourth round, where he will meet yet another Spanish-speaking opponent, No. 18 seed Tommy Robredo of Spain.
Roddick stated in a post-match interview that Robredo will be tough as he “wins a lot of matches” and is “grinder” with a solid forehand.
Fourth round action begins tomorrow at the US Open, with a likely match date of Tuesday for the defending champion.
Roddick leads their head-head meetings 6-0 with their last encounter coming in Novemeber of 2003 in Paris. ”
Roddick looked pumped up after his win today, seaming to gain confidenced with each match win.
