The US Open will officially kick off on Monday, August 30, with first round action on both the men’s and women’s sides.
Andy, who is seeded second behind Roger Federer, will have a Tuesday start, leaving him to tend to his birthday celebrations.
Federer, on the other hand, will take center stage tomorrow against Albert Costa of Spain in his first round opener.
Other top men playing tomorrow include Nicolas Kiefer who takes on another Nicolas, Nicolas Mahut, while Andre Agassi has his hands full with Robbi Ginepri.
Andy’s pal and Olympic Silver Medalist, Mardy Fish, faces David Ferrer of Spain.
Meanwhile, Andy was busy kicking off Kids Day on Saturday, along with Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, and Mardy Fish, along with musical guest, JoJo.
But after tomorrow’s birthday celebrations, Andy will be all business, attempting to defend his first Grand Slam crown.
An update on the US Open Series: Lleyton Hewitt has won back-to-back tournaments in DC and Long Island. As reported previously on AR.com, his has allowed him to tie Andy for the top spot on the Series point standings. However, the tie was broken, awarding Hewitt the No. 1 position, because he played more matches than Andy (17-14).
