Espn Chronicles Roddick

On Friday afternoon ESPN premiered it’s ’sportscentury: Andy Roddick” episode.

ESPN began this popular series in 1999 to commemorate the greatest athletes of the 20th century. The original concept was created to rank and countdown the top 100 athletes who spent a good portion of their professinoal careers competing in the United States. The top three in this poll were

1) Michael Jordan

2) Babe Ruth

3) Mohammed Ali

Due to the popularity of the series, ESPN has continued to produce these biographical documentaries, and after Andy won the US Open last year, and as his popularity continued to soar, the show’s producers decided it was time to chronicle Andy. As you can imagine, this project took many months to put together, and required several long interviews which took the crew to various locations.

Andy joined friends and family on Wednesday at a private screening of this show in New York City. The feedback from them was similar to the feedback by those on the messageboard. Definitely one of the best shows on Andy by far, and a great job by ESPN. There were several interesting stories from Andy’s childhood, and an incredible amount of insight into Andy’s close relationshbip with his family and his incredible rise to #1 in the world

In case you missed yesterday afternoon’s episode, please tune in on Monday at 8PM EST for the second airing of the show.

Please remember to check the schedule page of ar.com for Andy’s scheduled appearances on-court
