Andy is officially in New York City, where he appeared on a popular morning talkshow, Good Morning America today.
Andy was dressed in a green Reebok t-shirt and white shorts (the green leaf clover hat was missing) and opted for no head gear.
Andy was on the program to discuss his Olympic experience, the upcoming Open, and the Reebok Urban Youth Tennis Academy, where he will be holding a tennis clinic later today.
He hit balls with some talented children on a small court outside of the studio before and during his interview.
Andy described the Olympics as a “great experience” especially staying in the Athlete’s Village and sharing a room with other athletes, particularly pal Mardy Fish, who he cheered on until the last day of tennis competition, making his stay in Athens until Sunday night before jetting to New York.
As for the bet among the Australian Women’s Water Polo team, to see who could snag a kiss from Andy and a tidy sum, Andy announced that there we no winners, “unfortunately!”
Andy was awarded a GMA pin since the hosts learned that he has become an avid pin collector since the Olympics.
Shifting his attention to NYC and a little event coming up known as the US Open, Andy addressed the issue as to whether he is up for the challenge after a run at the Olympics. Andy said, “I always get a big rush playing here.” so there is no problem “getting up for it.”
He will need all of this enthusiasm and support when he begins his title defense next Monday.
