The official 2003 Masters Cup draw has been released. The draw ceremony took place in Houston today at 2:00 pm CST.
Andy has been assigned to the Red Group along with 4th ranked Guillermo Coria, 6th-ranked Rainer Schuettler, and 7th-ranked Carlos Moya.
The Blue Group consists of the remaining players including the 2nd and 3rd-ranked Race leaders, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Roger Federer, respectively. Eight-ranked David Nalbandian, who was the final player and the second Argentine to qualify for the Masters, rounds out the group.
According to rankings, one would image that Andy would have better chances of progressing through the round robin matches in the Red Group, but these players earned their spots in the Cup by consistently defeating top players, and they’re no slouches themselves. So Andy will have to be on his game and continue to show the high level of tennis he is capable of playing if he is to succeed to his first Tennis Masters Cup crown.
Go Andy!
