Andy Roddick vs. Taylor Dent
Sunday, second on court one, following an 11.00am start (BST)
Andy Roddick is through to the third round of the 2004 Wimbledon Championships with a straight sets victory over Alexander Peya 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-4. Andy had a very encouraging tactic of coming to the net a lot more in this match, and he hit some great volleys. p>After the match, Andy admitted that he”d known very little about Peya before the match. Andy was pleased with his volleying, but mentioned that Dent would be a very dangerous opponent. In regards to the football last night, which saw England lose out to Portugal on penalities, Andy said that he”d watched the match and he”d been pulling for England. Although he did comment that the pitch needed to be “fixed” and there was nothing like that sort of tournament or match in the USA.
Andy will play fellow American, Taylor Dent in round three. The two have played three times before with Andy leading the encounters 2-1. Their only match on grass was last year at the Queen’s Club which Andy won in straight sets.
