Number two seed Andy Roddick crashed out of the Telecom Italia Masters on Tuesday against Argentina`s Guillermo Canas 76 (6) 61.
Roddick, playing only his second clay court tournament this year, was run ragged by an on-form Canas, who avenged his straight-sets defeat at the hands of the American in Miami.
Roddick made almost twice as many unforced errors as his opponent in the first set: 20 to 11.
In the second, Roddick`s serve deserted him as well - his first serve rate dropped below 20%.
Both players scored a break in the first but Canas drew away in the second, moving his opponent around the court at will.
After Rainer Scheuttler`s defeat yesterday the number two and number three seeds are both out.
This year`s Rome Telecom Italia Masters seems wide open given the comments by number one seed Roger Federer earlier today - the Swiss star said he did not feel comfortable in his firt round match.
Number four seed Tim Henman, who also pulled through the first round, is not a natural clay court player and has never done well in Rome
