In addition to sharing a lot of history off the court, Andy and Mardy have battled 8 times before and twice already this year. Andy has prevailed in all but one of their matches, when he retired in Delray Beach in 2003. Although Andy has an impressive record over Fish, they pair have had several three set matches.
This will be Andy’s first match on clay this year. This will also be the first match Mardy and Andy have battled on clay. On Monday, Fish defeated Michael Llodra to set up the All-American action in the second round. As Andy articulated in his blog, he has been hitting the practice courts and gym in anticipation of the clay season. You can watch the boys grind it out live on The Tennis Channel.
