Andy Passes Test In Miami

Andy heated things up in Miami Saturday, defeating Victor Troicki 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 on stadium court. Andy battled in front of a record breaking, sold out crowd. Fans even gathered in the marketplace to watch on large video boards as the 2004 Sony Ericsson Open Champion earned a spot in the third round.

The two traded breaks in the opening set and after forty minutes were back on serve. At 5-5, Troicki broke again and served out the set 7-5. Andy came out of the gates swinging in the second with an easy hold for 1-0. Andy put pressure on the Serb early but Troicki managed to hold for 2-2. To the delight of the crowd, Andy broke for 4-2 and celebrated with a roar and a fist pump. After a decisive hold, Andy broke yet again, leveling the match at a set a piece 5-7, 6-2,

Andy kicked off the final set on his serve after an hour and a half of play. At 1-1, Troicki put up a fight, placing heavy pressure on the American, but Andy fought off the break for 2-1. The animated crowd gasped during big rallies and cheered after blazing ground-stroke rallies. At 3-2, Andy fought for two break points but Troicki fought for deuce. The Serb fought resiliently for the hold, leveling the set at 3 all. As the match clock hit two hours, Andy and Triocki continued their face off at 4-4. Andy held at love for 5-4 and briskly walked to the other side of the court with his game face on. The crowd was brought to their feet as pair took the court for what would be the final game. At 30-30 Andy battled for his first match point and sealed the deal 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
