Indian Wells: Haas up First

The desert in Indian Wells has definitely produced some sizzling early round match ups. In the second round of the Pacific Life Open on Sunday, Andy, seeded sixth, will face Germany’s Tommy Haas.

Andy received a bye into the second round, whereas Haas defeated Benneteau in the first round. This will be the tenth meeting between the pair. Haas has won six of their previous matches, but notably, Andy has triumphed in their three outdoor-hardcourt matches.

Haas is curently ranked 36 and has struggled at the start of 2008, having not advanced past the second round of any tournament.

By Andy’s own acknowledgement he is playing some of his best tennis in the last two years, and he will be hoping to take this recent form into Indian Wells.

Andy’s match is scheduled on Sunday, second up on Centre Court. Play begins at 11.00am PST, and Andy vs. Haas follows a ladies’ singles match.
