Feeling like this was a case of de-ja-vu, Andy and Mardy stood across the court for the second time in a week. Andy, reliving the match in the entirity, prevailed victorious yet again, but this time in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to move onto the next round in Memphis.The two former housemates opened the match on an even playing field, going point for point as they warmed up their games. Andy was on fire tonight and earned a break point at 2-2, and only needed the one chance to jump ahead. He showed Mardy that he wasn’t here to play nice by serving him a bagel game to seal the lead, 4-2. Attempting to repeat and break again, Andy pushed Mardy to deuce, but Mardy played some stellar tennis and fired an ace to hold this game. Holding for the rest of the set, Andy took the lead at 6-4 in 33 minutes.

Keeping up the winning mentality as the second set began, Andy earned a break point on Mardy’s first service game and capitalized immediately, leading 1-0. Mardy answered back by earning a double break point, but serious strategizing and turning up the heat while in a hot spot are what Andy does best and came back to hold with ace #10, 2-0. On a roll, Andy rolled right to break point number three and broke for the third time, leading 3-0. Mardy got on the board at 4-1, but that was the last time he would do so. With ace #18, Andy took the game, second set, and the match, 6-4, 6-2.
