On Thursday evening, Andy will take on good friend Mardy Fish for a place in the Quarterfinals of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships & Cellular South Cup.

This is the second meeting in as many weeks for Andy and Mardy. It is a well known fact that Andy and Mardy grew up playing tennis together, and Mardy even lived in the Roddick household in Boca Raton for a while. However, Andy stressed last week in San Jose that friendship lasts longer than a tennis match, and last week’s competitive match which saw Andy emerge the winner, definitely proved that both players are out there to win.

Andy and Mardy’s head to head would make Andy the favourite on paper, as he has won 6 out of their 7 matches, however all these have been close affairs. Mardy has a good history in Memphis, having reached the semis twice in previous years.

Fish defeated Yen-Hsun Lu in three sets to advance to the second round in Memphis.

Here are Mardy Fish’s stats courtesy of the ATP:

Birthdate: 9-Dec-81
Birthplace: Edina, Minnesota, USA
Residence: Tampa, Florida, USA
Height: 6’2’’ (187 cm)
Weight: 180 lbs (81 kg)
Plays: Right-handed
Turned Pro: 2000
Coach: Kelly Jones
Current ATP Ranking – Singles: 94
Career High ATP Ranking – Singles: 17 (22-Mar-04)
Current ATP Race – Singles: 38

The match is slated for the second evening session, following a ladies’ singles match, which begins at 6.30pm EST.
