Davis Cup Tickets On Sale Today!

Tickets for the 2008 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Quarterfinal between the United States and France at the Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C., April 11-13, will go on sale starting Monday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. ET. Tickets are sold as a three-day series with prices ranging from $90 to $390, with VIP packages available, and can be purchased by calling (888) 484-8782 (USTA).

The competition could feature three of the top 10 players in the world. No. 6 Andy Roddick and No. 9 James Blake have been mainstays on the U.S. Davis Cup team along with the world’s No. 1 doubles team, Bob and Mike Bryan. No. 7 Richard Gasquet and 2008 Australian Open runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga led France to a 4-1 win over Romania in the Davis Cup first round earlier this month and are expected to compete in Winston-Salem.

The best-of-five match series begins Friday, April 11, with two singles matches, featuring each country’s No. 1 player against the other country’s No. 2 player. Saturday’s schedule features the pivotal doubles match. The final day of play on Sunday will feature two “reverse singles” matches, when the No. 1 players square off followed by the No. 2 players meeting each other in the final match.

Daily sold-out crowds of 14,453 filled Joel Coliseum for last year’s Davis Cup quarterfinal between the United States and Spain, making it the largest Davis Cup crowd in the United States since 1990 and third largest all-time. The U.S. won that match and went on to capture its record 32nd Davis Cup title by defeating Russia in the final in Portland, Ore.

The series between the United States and France in Davis Cup dates back to 1905 and is level at seven wins each. France won the last meeting between these two countries, the 2002 semifinal held at Roland Garros in Paris.
