In the third round of the Australian Open, Andy will face the German, Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Kohlschreiber came into the Australian Open high on confidence after capturing the title in Auckland. Like Andy, Kohlschreiber has delivered some impressive performances in Melbourne, not dropping a set to reach the third round.
Andy and Kohlschreiber’s head to head: Andy has dominated on both their previous two matches, including a straight sets win over Kohlschreiber in the 2005 Australian Open. Kohlschreiber’s game has improved massively since that match though and he’s currently at a career high ranking of 27.

Speaking about the match-up, Andy said,
“I’ve played him a couple of times. I mean, I don’t know if I’m sitting at home looking up Kohlschreiber matches. But I think I’m definitely aware of the fact that he’s been steadily rising in the rankings.”
Andy’s third round match will be under the lights on Friday evening. The match is scheduled as the second evening session, following a women’s singles match which starts at 7.30pm (3.30am EST).
