We have been hearing from many of you lucky enough to be part of the crowd who helped the USA to lift the Davis Cup trophy.
This story comes from Bill Sanders,
“It was a thrill to be in Portland watching the USA reclaim the title. There was so much pressure on Andy, since it was the first match, and losing it would have put us in a big hole, and Tursunov beat him in that epic match last year.
But Andy showed what he is made of, and gave the rest of the guys a big confidence boost by taking the match in straights. One of his serves was clocked at 148, with several in the 140s.
I was also at the 1992 finals in Fort Worth, when the previous generation of American superstars took the cup. That match was the inspiration for 10-year old Andy to become a pro someday.”
If you have been at any of Andy’s charity exhibitions this December, we’d also love to hear from you. The address, as usual, is iwasthere@andyroddick.com
