Day 1 (Memorable Match: Andy vs Berdych DC First Round)
Memorable Matches of 2007:Title: Andy vs Tomas Berdych, Davis Cup First Round vs Czech Republic

Andy fired Team USA into the Davis Cup quarterfinals with a hard fought four set win away on clay against Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic at the beginning of the season in February. The 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(4) victory set up an April clash at home against Spain.

Andy had put the USA 1-0 up with a four set victory against Ivo Minar in the first rubber on the Friday, before Tomas Berdych had levelled up the score with a close victory over James Blake. World No. 1 doubles duo, Bob and Mike Bryan gave the USA a 2-1 advantage with a straight sets victory over two time 2007 Grand Slam finalists Dlouhy/Vizner, before Andy sealed the tie in a fourth set tie-break against Berdych on the Sunday.

Quotes:

– “I think as far as the weight of the situation involved, as far as being in a pressure situation, it definitely could be one of my best matches on clay”.
– “Obviously I’d love to be part of a winning Davis Cup team. Especially providing the tradition we’ve had in Davis Cup, I’d love to change that. I know the rest of the guys on the team share that sentiment”.
