“I was there…in Shanghai!”

Andy has fans all over the world and as the ATP reached it’s climax showcasing the elite eight players in Shanghai, Andy’s Chinese Fan Club turned out in force to offer Andy support.

Andy’s Chinese Fan Club were with Andy all the way in Shanghai, below is part one of their report.

“You’ll probably remember us from last April’s Fan of the Month. This year we gathered at the Masters Cup to cheer for our guy Andy! It’s always a surreal feeling to watch Andy in action and we brought a lot of American flags and made many banners to cheer for him. By now you’ve probably seen our banners on TV or press photos already.

Something very funny happened during the match against Roger. When Andy was about to serve, a little girl in the stand started screaming and crying and wouldn’t stop. So Andy looked up towards that direction and shouted, “I will beat Federer I promise!” As soon as Andy finished that sentence the girl
stopped crying and remained silent for the whole match. Even though Andy didn’t win that night we all know sooner or later Andy will! It’s a promise!

After Andy won the match against Davydenko, he did an on-court interview and said, “Thank you”, to his fans in Chinese! We think Andy definitely got some language talent there as it was brilliant pronunciation! He also did a bow that”s similar to what his good Asian friend Schrichapan does after matches.
It was really thoughtful for Andy to say that and do that!

Off court we would wait for Andy outside his hotel. One night was very memorable and we call it “Hey It’s Andy Roddick” night. Some of us were waiting for Andy to come back from a night out. When he got off the car we were really excited. He was wearing a lacoste shirt with the top two buttons undone. He
looked very polished even from a short distance! One of us came up with an idea so she took out her cell phone and started playing the song “Hey It’s Andy Roddick”. Andy heard it and the cutest smile appeared on his face. He looked a little bit surprised as well.

John and Doug were in front of him and they were about to enter the hotel so he shouted, “John come here! It’s the Andy Roddick song!” So John and Doug turned around and gave us a big smile too! Then Andy posed with every one of us for photos. Then Andy said “Good night” to all of us before he went in the hotel. The song was playing the whole time and Andy had really nice smiles in all the photos! For us it nearly felt like a little party outside the Hilton lobby!

We really think that if you are a real Roddick fan, Andy will return the favor!
