Austin Countdown: Charity Month

Causes that need resolution, people who need help, and foundations that give them both are what this October has been about for Andy. With less than a week before the Elton John intimate concert, dinner, and auction on October 14th at the Hilton Austin, Andy has a few more stops before he heads home to host.

Last week, Andy opened the Andy Roddick Youth Tennis Program in San Antonio with the help of the Our Lady of the Lake University, the Rene Lacoste Foundation, and the USTA Tennis & Education Foundation. The ribbon cutting not only a huge success with children from the local elementary school in participation, but also a humbling one.

“I’m really humbled by everybody that turned out today,” the former world-number-one noted at the event. “I didn’t expect this at all.”

Next, Andy is on his way to the east coast. On Tuesday, October 9th, Andy will be participating in the PNC Tennis Classic charity event in Baltimore, Maryland. Then Andy hops on a plane to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he will be participating in the WTT AIDS Smash Hit event with Elton John and Billy Jean King. Andy will be playing with tennis-legend BJK while Team Elton has the help of a handful of American favorites at Villanova University on Wednesday, October 10th.

Finally homeward bound on Thursday, Andy will be joining the Andy Roddick Foundation put the final touches on Elton’s intimate concert with jaw-dropping auction items. The ARFoundation has even extended the sale of the Limited Edition “No Compromise” wristbands so you can support Andy “helping children today for tomorrow” all the way through the Davis Cup finals in December.

Unfortunately, the Austin event is completely sold-out, but the 7th Annual Andy Roddick Foundation Event on December 8th and 9th in Boca Raton, Florida still has some tickets left! Call 561-620-9449 for tickets to see Andy, James Blake, Maria Sharapova, and Brenda Schultz tear up the turf to help children in need.
