Andy is now the highest seed at the Thailand Open after Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal, and is daunting oppostion for Wang. Wang has spent most of his year on Challenger circuit, winning titles in Recanati and Busan. The 20-year-old also qualified into Wimbledon this year and won his first round match against Kunitsyn before losing out to Bjorkman in the second round. Wang has been as highly ranked as World No. 85 in the South African Airways ATP Rankings, however has since fallen to his current position of World No. 164.

Andy is going in to Bangkok playing with a lot of confidence after contributing greatly to the USA’s thrashing of Sweden in the Davis Cup World Group semifinals at the weekend. He will also have good memories from Bangkok after reaching the final there in 2004 where he lost to Roger Federer. Good results from Andy this week will see him book his place in the Masters Cup in Shanghai.
