Stringer Update

The stringer to the stars, Roman Prokes and RPNY Tennis, checked in with Ar.com to update us on all the details of Andy’s rackets from D.C to New York.

During the US Open, Roman’s team strung a total of 70 rackets during the US Open. “We have started testing tensions at 64 and 65 lbs and we hit it right on. Andy has strung all 70 frames at those tensions. Each match we prepared 5 at 64 and 2 at 65 plus rackets for practice,” Roman explained.

Earlier in the summer, RPNY Tennis was also on hand when Andy won the Legg Mason Tennis Classic. “The Legg Mason Tournament was once again a successful stop on the tennis calendar for Andy. With the hot weather Andy needed at least 5 racquets for each match and 2 for each practice session. He found that 65lbs was his favored tension but had a couple of 66lbs on hand for each match. Being the shortest player in the semis did not intimidate Andy at all (Karlovic 6 feet 10, Isner 6 feet 9, Monfils 6 feet 5), as he fired down multiple aces, the fastest at 151mph!! In total Andy had 34 racquets strung by RPNY tennis.”

Check back to Ar.com for more updates and visit www.rpnytennis.com for more on Roman Prokes and his team. RPNY Tennis will join Andy and the Davis Cup team in Sweden!
