As expected, the United States’ Davis Cup team for its upcoming semifinal against host Sweden will feature Andy Roddick, James Blake and the Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike. The best-of-five tie will be staged on an indoor hardcourt in Gothenburg from September 21-23.
Roddick is a former U.S. Open champ and former world No. 1; Blake, like Roddick, currently resides in the men’s top 10; and the Bryans are the top- ranked doubles team on the planet.
The U.S., which is captained by Patrick McEnroe, will also have John Isner and Sam Querrey on hand as practice partners.
Sweden is expected to counter with the likes of Thomas Johansson and Jonas Bjorkman. Its top player, Robin Soderling, is expected to miss the clash due to a wrist injury.
