Andy vs. Berdych
On Monday, in the fourth round of the US Open, Andy will face the number nine seed, Czech Tomas Berdych.Berdych has reached the fourth round at Flushing Meadows on two previous occasions in 2004 and last year and hs figuring this year courtesy of wins over Marc Gicquel, Simone Bolelli, and Fernando Verdasco, dropping not sets so far.

The 20 year old Czech is ranked at a career high nine after enjoying success on the grass, winning in Halle and reaching the quarter finals at Wimbledon. He also reached the semi finals in Monte Carlo and Munich. Check out Berdych’s stats below courtesy of the ATP site:

Andy and Berdych have met twice before, both winning one of the encounters, Andy most recently in the Davis Cup earlier this year.

Looking ahead to the match, Andy commented: “Well, we play kind of similar. I think we both serve big and hit a pretty big ball from the baseline. If that’s the case, it’s going to come down to a couple points here and there, who converts their chances on the other guy’s serve.”
