Houston, we have a winner! The 2003 ATP Awards presented by Waterford Crystal were announced last week at the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami, Florida. The 2003 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston and the Synsam Swedish Open in Bastad were chosen by the players as joint winners of the International Series Tournament of the Year Award. Westside Tennis Club receives this award just as the facility is gearing up to host its fourth U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships, to be held April 12th – 18th.
Jim McIngvale, owner of Westside Tennis Club, is thrilled that the players selected the tournament as one of the best. “We’ve always strived to make Westside and Houston a place where players want to come and play. I got into the tennis world for the fans and the players and winning this award proves that all the hard work was worth it.”
The tournament looks to be even better this year with the addition of the Gallery Furniture Stadium Court. This new $8 million dollar, 83,000 square-foot, 7,500 seat open-air facility, which was built for the 2003 Tennis Masters Cup, will allow more fans to enjoy this award winning tournament.
