Andy Wins Over Zib
In just over an hour, Andy beat his second round opponent, Tomas Zib, 6-4, 6-2. Under the starry sky in Washington DC, Andy will move onto the next round at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic. The first set began with each player holding serve. Zib pushed Andy to deuce 3-2, but Andy held his serve and let Zib know he won’t be pushed around again. Breaking to lead 4-3 and then holding to 5-3, Andy didn’t let the Czech get anywhere near the first set “W”. Zib pushed Andy to deuce after double set point and even earned a break point, however the Babolat Pure Drive had something to say about that and Andy sealed the set, 6-4.

Andy kept up the momentum from the first set and broke Zib early on to lead 2-1 and then again for at 4-1, holding serve to be ahead four games 5-1. Zib got on the board one more time before Andy sent him packing, closing the match in 61 minutes, 6-4, 6-2.

Sending 18 aces past his opponent and holding 98% of his first service points, Andy is on a roll in DC. Stay tuned to AR.com for Andy’s next round opponent and everything east coast. Go Andy!
