Andy took center court under the lights at his debut singles match at the 2007 Indianapolis Tennis Championships. Wearing the new limited edition Red, White and Blue No Compromise wristband, Andy defeated Alex Kuznetsov 6-4, 6-0.
The two held in the opening games but at 2 all Andy capitalized on a break and rocketed to a commanding 4-2 lead. Although Kuznetsov was able to fight off Andy on his next serve, the damage was already done as Andy powered for 5-3. With the momentum on his side, Andy earned three set points. Kuznetsov saved the first, and aced his way out of trouble to hold. Despite missing the break opportunities, Andy stayed level headed and easily served out the set 6-4 after 40 minutes of play.
Andy steam rolled into the second set, immediately breaking Kuznetsov. He gave Kuznetsov little opportunities on his serve, and held for 2-0. Andy’s experience on center court really shinned when he broke again for 3-0. Looking for an early evening, Andy again held and immediately put pressure on the young American. With Kuznetsov serving down 30-40, Andy sealed the deal with another break for 5-0. After only a little over an hour, Andy booked himself a spot in the second round 6-4, 6-0.
