The 2006 RCA Championships’ title match was a perfect example of saving the best for last, as James Blake and Andy Roddick proved that not all of the fireworks in Indianapolis were used up over the July 4 holiday.
Blake’s 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win later would be recognized as the best final among the 10-tournament US Open Series events, but when Roddick’s shot strayed wide with Blake up 6-5 in the tiebreak, everyone in attendance at the Indianapolis Tennis Center knew it was an instant classic.
