Federer and Nadal are the top names scheduled to appear in the W&S tournament that runs Aug. 10-19, and Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and James Blake also will be participating.
In previous years, the W&S used a 64-player draw, but in this event, it’ll feature a 56-player field, meaning the top eight seeds will earn a first-round bye. The top 42 players in the world have been entered into the tournament, and Radek Stepanek and Nicolas Kiefer - both of whom have protected rankings - also are included.
The W&S also will issue four wild cards, seven qualifiers will earn entry into the tournament, and tournament officials also could issue a special exemption if a player who would have participated in the qualifying tournament makes the semifinals of the Masters event in Canada the week before.
The wild cards for Flory will be a tough decision.
“This year, it’s kind of hard,” he said. “If you look at the rankings of all the guys below 44, there are a lot of names there.”
