July ‘07 Fan Of The Month

Dear andyroddick.com,
I would like to nominate myself for the Fan of the Month contest. In 2004 I saw Andy play against Federer in the Wimbledon final. At that time, I did not even know how to keep score in a tennis match. In addition, I had never heard of the tournament Wimbledon. But, something made me want to watch Andy more and more. By the end of the 1st set, I was clapping. In the 2nd set I jumping all around my TV room. By the third set, well you probably know it was mayhem.

After that match was finished I decided to see if Andy had a website. I discovered many things about him, most importantly, his charity. I was amazed when I discovered what an amazing person he was, helping children in need and donating millions to other charities.

Ever since that discovery I have been following Andy’s career like a cat follows a mouse. Through the ups and downs of his career I have held the same enthusiasm for him in every match. Andy has also been an inspiration to my tennis game, I began to develop a serve just like him, and I tried to have the mental toughness that Andy has. After a few years I heard of the Andy Roddick forums and joined them. The forums have been a blast for me, getting to support Andy with hundreds of other Andy fans. In conclusion, Andy has been a true inspiration for me through 3 years of support for him. Thanks!- Paul
