After a powerful three-setter against Bogdanovic, Andy is ready for the quarterfinals where he will face Croatia’s Marin Cilic at the Artois Championships. Andy and Cilic will be third on Centre Court after a noon start tomorrow, June 15th.
The towering 18-year-old Croat defeated Henman and Tsonga, whom pushed Andy to 20-18 in the first set of his first round match at the Australian Open a few months ago, to face Andy here in his first tournament ever playing on grass. Cilic turned pro in 2005, and last week reached a career high ranking of 110. This year, he’s won two challengers and has played a handful of Top Ten players, but not once came out victorious.
Here are more stats on Cilic:
Birthdate: 28-Sep-88
Birthplace: Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina
Residence: Zagreb, Croatia
Height: 6’5’’ (195 cm)
Weight: 174 lbs (79 kg)
Plays: Right-handed
Turned Pro: 2005
The big stage against the big guns might be too much to handle, and we know Andy’s going to use advantage he can to break the Wild Card player to earn a golden ticket into the semifinals.
