“What stands out is how Andy moved seamlessly from being a player of immense potential to the world’s number one ranked player. And to achieve this by managing the expectations of such a success hungry tennis nation.
Andy has been a great friend to The Artois and we hope to maintain that friendship for future years. The crowd really warm to him.”
This is Ian’s last year directing the Artois Championships, and he reflected on a humorous moment with Andy at Queens.
“My worst moments – you at least learn more from them! Sending Andy to practice off-site and the transport broke down; leaving him with knees under his chin for almost an hour.
My best moment – when Andy forgave us!”
Nice one Andy!
Andy has been a good friend to the Artois Championships, but they have also been a great friend to AndyRoddick.com, and we wish Ian Wight a very successful last tournament!
