Andy in Queens
Andy has been in London for a week, and this weekend he was hitting up the courts at Queen’s Club in London, in preparations for the Artois Championships. On Saturday, Andy had two practices, with Tim Henman and Mardy Fish. With his game looking good, Andy played practice sets as well as hitting some sweet winners. Although there was the usual banter (we think Andy also lost an expensive dinner bet with Mardy), it was clear the focus was intense, as all the guys got competitive in their practices!

Many fans turned out to watch Andy practice, with several of them complimenting Andy on his Johnathan Ross appearance…although Andy reckoned some of his younger fans should have been in bed before it started!

On Sunday Andy turned out again at 12pm, this time with Radek Stepanek. Practice was a serious affair, but there were a couple of light hearted moments. At the start of practice, Jimmy (who, it must be pointed out was wearing a jacket and a V-neck jumper in the London heat) was swinging a wooden racket. After joking that Jimmy was attached to the racquet, Stepanek asked Andy if he could hit any shots with it, to which Andy replied – “not a chance!”

Later on in a practice point, Andy pulled off a terrific forehand squash shot passing shot from the back corner, which received a round of applause from the crowd watching, and Andy took a bow. He then made the observation that the shot had either been going in, or into one of the surrounding houses’ front window waking someone up from a Sunday lunchtime nap!

Stau tuned for more to come from Queens Club!
