As well as some rather dashing photos of Andy (for the ladies…) the article re-captures the moment when Andy decided he wanted the legendary Jimmy Connors as his coach.
“Following his loss at Roland Garros, Roddick sat on a train, just another commuter shuttling from Paris to London, with a cellphone in one hand and a list of potential coaches in the other. Connors was one of them.”
And so the story goes… Joel Drucker also muses the coincidental happenings in the lives of Andy and Jimmy, such as their first meeting, just minutes prior to Andy’s US Open victory in August 2003. Fate? Were Andy and Jimmy destined to produce great things together? Why not check out the article in ACE magazine to read up on the whole story. The magazine is available in UK newsagents, and through subscriptions via the LTA website.
