Roddick’s First Go at Gaudio
First on Centre Court at 1pm tomorrow, Andy Roddick will step onto the Roman red clay and stare across the net into Argentina’s Gaston Gaudio’s eyes for the first time. After Gaudio defeated fellow American Mardy Fish in straight sets today, 6-4, 6-4, he earned a spot second round against the number three seed.

Stepping back into the swing of things on clay, equipped with his new Babolat Propulse super-stoppers, Andy is ready to skip some winners down the sideline. Reaching number five in the world two years ago, currently ranked 71st, Gaudio has proved he can put up quite a fight to earn the “W”. With clay as Gaudio’s favorite surface and holding a 42-8 record playing on it, “Gato”, meaning cat and knicknamed that by his family, will be chasing down as many shots as he can. Andy’s shot variation and volleying will have to be in top form to get Gaudio going home tomorrow evening.
