“Whaoooo!” was Andy’s first reaction when he tested the new Babolat Propulse sneakers noted Said Benchaboune, Babolat’s Global Sports Marketing Director. Said took us behind the scenes with Andy’s mindset on his new “kicks” on court.
“Babolat is well known to keep on innovating, the Propulse is a high performance shoe with breakthrough technologies,” Said told us. “We want to offer the best to Andy and that’s the reason why he switched to the Propulse.” The Propulse shoe is different from the Roddick All Court because it has three new innovations to give the player the ultimate amount of traction needed to stop at the drop of a volley. Exact Pro propulsion with each step, Michelin OCS (Optimized Cell System) for racecar grip, and a shock-absorbing Vibrakill heel are the three secret elements to Andy’s new shoe.
With Andy’s game becoming more diverse and explosive, he needed a shoe to keep up with his on-the-spot shot choices. Michelin used it’s expertise in car tires in the new Propulse shoes to increase grip, and that’s exactly how we’re going to see Andy advertising them.
“The shoes are like the tires of a Formula One car. You can have the best engine but if there is no grip, it’s kind of useless. The photo shoot will represent Andy at a tennis pit stop.” You can see Andy’s new ads in Tennis Magazine and on Babolat.com.
All strings and shoes aside, Said let us in on what impressed him the most about Andy off-court. “What strikes me the most is his knowledge on the other sports.” Andy’s a sports guru as he used to play basketball and is a life-long Husker football fan.
