Once again long overdue, here it goes:
First things first a huge congrats to Ron Angle and his wife who had their first child…you’ve seen his pictures all over, Ron is one of the best photographers on tour and a close friend…couldn’t be happier for him.
also one of my best buddies Scott graduated today…finally… haha after what felt like nine years of school (he is not a doctor or lawyer)…we give him a hard time but I love you Scotty and I’m proud of you!.
also want to give a shout out to USA’s Fed Cup team…they defeated Belgium…it’s so cool to have both of us in the semis.
thanks to everyone who came out to the Lacoste store opening in Austin…it’s always great meeting you guys!
I saw the killers in concert for the first time…they were unreal
I’m more than mildly devastated that the Heat were eliminated in the playoffs…
It’s been a really exciting few weeks for the Foundation…we were honored at Sportsball by the Arthur Ashe Institute in New York. I can’t express how excited I was when I heard the news last month…everyone at ARF has worked so hard over the years, and to be recognized by the Arthur Ashe Institute is such an honor. I went with my Mom and Boyd Tinsley to accept the award…I had to write a speech which is always a little intimidating…I don’t really have a fear of public speaking, but I’m better at it wearing tennis clothes after a match…I was in awe of so many people at the awards ceremony that I found it hard to believe they wanted to hear what I had to say…and there are so many amazing things we have accomplished over the years..it’s hard to weed that down to a speech…I think it went pretty well…and again it was just such an honor.
there are very few times all my friends get up early on a Saturday morning…the NFL draft is one of them..I got so competitive with Fantasy Football last year..I’m already working on my team’s prospects! I couldn’t get over how aggressive the reporters got during the actual draft…I felt for some of those guys when they would corner them and ask “everyone thought you were going to be a top 10 pick, and you haven’t been chosen yet, how do you feel?”…I mean..really…that would be like taking interviews in the middle of a match…I would probably get in a little trouble if that were the case..haha
Last week I got in some solid training with Jimmy…really worked hard…got the weekend off to go to Vegas for my friend’s bachelor party and from the moment I arrived, I have never felt worse…I caught some sort of stomach virus and spent practically the entire weekend in my hotel room…not a pretty sight. .you don’t realize how good it is to feel healthy and normal until you feel sick…and being sick doesn’t agree with my personality at all…I can’t stand still…so when I’m sick, I drive myself crazy…..really hope all of you feel normal from here on out!
and the fines go to…
Fine of the week: um…me…I’m at my house in Florida training this week…I spent a good amount of time the other day sitting on my couch trying to charge my computer…I constantly drain my battery…this isn’t really a new thing for me…usually not a big deal to plug in a charger…but this time I tried (for embarrassingly long) to plug my phone charger into my computer…I was like a child with one of those round hole, square peg toys…so confused why it wasn’t working…to my defense, the two chargers were right next to one another…but really no excuses.
Self Chuck - those who are awful with predictive texts…I'’m sure I do it sometimes when writing a text message so quickly that I select the wrong word…but some of my friends are severely challenged and I’ll get messages that are just pure nonsense…at that point, just take the time and write a normal text message..WALL
Butthead: things have been a little quiet on the Howard K. Stern front lately…
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the students and families of Virginia Tech. I can’t even imagine…our thoughts are with you.
