Andy will take on David Ferrer in the fourth round of the Sony Ericsson Open. The match is scheduled third up on Stadium Court, following two ladies matches. Play starts at 11.00am EST.
This will be the third meeting between Andy and Ferrer. Their last meeting was at the Miami Masters last year, with Ferrer edging Andy in a close three set match. Time for revenge? Oh yes!
Currently ranked 14 in the world, Ferrer is a talented player om both clay and hard court. Enjoying an impressive start to the year, Ferrer won a title in Auckland and reached the quarter-finals of Indian Wells last week.
Below are Ferrer’s stats from the ATP:
Birthdate: 2-Apr-82
Birthplace: Javea, Spain
Residence: Valencia, Spain
Height: 5’9’’ (175 cm)
Weight: 160 lbs (72 kg)
Plays: Right-handed
Turned Pro: 2000
Coach: Javier Piles
After his win over Simon, Andy was satisfied with his progress so far,
“Even if it means I’m not hitting the ball as well as I want to, I’m still finding the ways to get through matches. Whereas last year, it felt the other way around. I was hitting the ball well in practice and finding ways to lose matches, so I’d rather have it this way.”
