It’s A String Thing: Roman Prokes Update

There is one person who just may have been busier than Andy the past few months, his stringer, Roman Prokes. Roman and members of his New York based company, RPNY Tennis, have traveled to every continent with the exception of Antarctica, to help the world’s best players maintain their rackets. We checked in with Roman for a recap of his adventures down under. Check out Roman’s racket update from Kooyong and the Australian Open;

“The Australian summer kept us all guessing this year with Kooyong and the Australian open being played through out incredible heat and cold rainy days. Andy settled on a tension of 64lbs for his Kooyong campaign stringing 5 rackets each match and 2 for a practice session. The heat of the outside conditions suited him well and Andy defeated Roger Federer in the Final.With the fluctuating temperatures from 40 degrees C + to mid teens it was necessary to vary tensions from 63lbs to 65lbs over the 2 weeks of the Australian Open. Stringing 8 rackets for each match and 2 for a practice session saw Andy through to the semi finals of the Australian open. Total for the 2 events :71 rackets.”
