Fan Of The Month: Jan’ 07

Andy has earned a few days off at the Australian Open which gives us the time to showcase January’s well deserved Fan of the Month. You have probably seen his picture on the website the past few weeks and now you can read all about him!

It’s back! January 2007 sees the return of the popular ‘Fan of the Month’ contest. To kick off 2007, we’ve dug through the entries and decided to give the award to David “Mr. Technical” Klingensmith.

“I would like to nominate myself for fan of the month for the month of October. I have been a fan of Andy’s since I first saw him play on TV at my 21st Birthday party in 2002. I never really watched the sport a whole lot up until that point, but I had heard his name before. From that point on I have been watching his career.

Since 2003 I have been attending the SAP Open just to see Andy play, even though he didn’t play that year, I still went to see James Blake play. Starting in December of 2004 I have flown from San Jose to Boca Raton for Andy’s annual Charity event. In 2005 I had the opportunity to even try and return his serve, which I didn’t do so well at, but I am going to try again in 2006. I am also go to the Dinner/Dance Gala as well. Andy nicknamed me “Mr. Technical” for being so difficult when he asked me how I wanted him
to serve to me, hence me screen name Mr. Technical on the forums.

Over the last few years I have collected several autographs from Andy. Some of those include Andy’s 2006 calendar, the Starbucks cup with his “The way I See It” line on it, a “My Ride” t-shirt signed by all 4 players (Andy, Mardy, the Bryan Bros), and a Reebok
trucker hat. All of these items are either framed or in a case because they mean so much to me.

I have also bought a few items from the Proshop and am always looking for more. I have given out about 10-20 “No Compromise’ wristbands to others, and I still wear the original one that I bought in 2004 at the charity event to this day. My “Andy Rod-duck”s sits on top of my TV at home and in front of my monitor at work. I use my ARF backpack everyday. I am a proud member of
Club Roddick 2.0 and was a member of original Club Roddick a few years ago as well, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of it for many years to come.

My wardrobe over the past years has changed mostly to that which Andy has been wearing between Reebok, which I wear most of the time, and now Lacoste.
The picture attached to this email is the outfit I wore for Halloween this year. The racquet I have is Andy’s signature racquet. The shoes I have are the all court Roddicks (sorry they got cut off). I do have the ankle braces Andy uses as well because I use them myself when I play tennis. And finally of course, Andy’s outfit. I always look forward dressing up as
Andy every year because it allows me to not only have fun, but also to show my support for Andy.”
