Roddick Roars Past Gambill Setting Up Safin Clash

Andy Roddick is through to the third round of TMS Indian Wells with a win over Jan-Mike Gambill 7-6(3), 6-2.

On his way to victory, Andy hit 20 aces from an impressive 60% success on his first serve. Andy broke Gambill twice in the second set to come home comfortably after a very tight first set where both players had break point opportunities, but failed to take them.

In an eagerly anticipated third round match up, Andy will now take on Russian Marat Safin. Safin and Roddick have played twice before, with Safin winning both their previous encounters, including the explosive five setter in the Australian Open this year. The match will be played on Monday, not before 2.00pm (local time) on Stadium court 1.
