Best of 2006: On Screen Appearance

From Davis Cup to Fashion Do’s and Don’t’s, from Jimmy Connors to Jimmy Kimmel, and from Fine of the Week to Fan of the Month, we’re bringing it all front and center one more time. With the year winding down and Andy preparing to kick off 2007 in Hawaii, here is the Best of Andy in 2006. He’s brought you into his world through his blogs, Club Roddick, On The Rod, and the AT&T Home Turf with Barry Sanders. Now, without further adieux, here is Andy’s Best On Screen Appearance of 2006.

Do you remember the tasty sandwiches Ellen brought to the court on Arthur Ashe Kids Day for Andy and Andre? Probably, but who could forget Ellen’s leaping hug into Andy’s arms half-way through the exhibition that day? Definately not us! Andy reunited with comedian Ellen Degeneres for some more love – both giving and receiving – when he appeared on her show the first week of October, supporting Breast Cancer Awareness week.

Sporting a pale yellow button down under a brown swade Lacoste blazer and jeans, Andy and Ellen shared fonds memories of Arthur Ashe Kids Day and cardboard-Ellen being Andy’s date at the Elton John ARF Charity event last April. They both talked about their philanthropic activities, with one-liners that had everyone in stitches.

At the end of their chat, Andy headed behind the audience to find himself on yet another tennis court. Standing on one baseline with a racquet in his hands, he saw his opponents to be plates, eggs, and bottles propped up on road cones. His mission: to knock down three items and the audience would received a prize, with proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. After cracking two plates, Andy hopped the net and took out a bottle with a forehand smash to win the game.

The audience left with gifts and giggles, Ellen with helping raise funds and awareness, and Andy with a new pink wristband and some fond memories. These two celebrities had some good laughs for a good cause. Great teamwork! Ellen, do you play mixed doubles?
