Charity Gala in Austin, Texas

“Oh what a feeling” echoed in the Four Seasons Hotel as guests sang along with music legend Lionel Richie last night at the 2nd Annual Andy Roddick Foundation Charity Gala in Austin, Texas. And it certainly was a good feeling!

The evening began with an intimate cocktail reception at 6:30 at the pristine Four Seasons Hotel which overlooks Austin’s Town Lake. Following an hour of mingling, Andy and Mrs. Roddick began dinner by welcoming guests and showing an inspiration Andy Roddick Foundation video. During an elegant cuisine of salads, crab cakes and steak, guests had the chance to bid on unique auction items including a fiddle signed by Boyd Tinsley from the Dave Matthews Band, a Lacoste US Open package, a night of poker at Andy’s house, and two Lexus hybrid vehicles!

Dressed to the nines, guests kicked up their heels and filled the dance floor when Grammy award winner Lionel Richie took the stage. Performing a delightful collection of his classic hits including “Dancing on the Ceiling” in addition to the single from his current album “Coming Home,” Richie sang everyone out of their chairs during the hour concert. Perhaps inspired by the song “All Night Long,” some guests carried on the evening’s festivities on Austin’s famed 6th street.

As the last guest left the Four Seasons Hotel, there was a sigh of relief from the selfless ARF staff who have been working endlessly to pull off the month of back to back activities. But as they assembled auction items, and collected a few programs, Mrs. Roddick couldn’t help but suggest “Next year we should….”
