Success On A Starry Night

After walking down the red carpet and entering the Boca Raton Polo Club, the twinkling lights, the warm atmosphere, and the hundreds of people attended another successful and fun Andy Roddick Foundation Dinner Dance.

Once you checked in, you received a colorful smiley-face wristband as your admittance to the silent auction area and an evening program dawned with the man himself on the cover. After walking through the colorful shaffon-draped entrance, it was time to begin bidding. From a hand crafted, one of a kind doll to Andy’s signed 2006 Davis Cup outfit to a ride on a zamboni at a hockey game, there was something for everyone. After bidding on your favorite items, meeting and taking pictures with Andy, and winning the item you were watching from across the room all night, serendipity was in the air.

Andy came out to meet his fans, take pictures with them, and thank his guests for the support. Everyone then went to find their seats for dinner and the live auction. As you entered the room, your eyes were immediately struck by the citrus colored décor. Lemon yellow, lime green, and Sunkist orange dawned the room, floor to ceiling. Andy took to the microphone to introduce his celebrity friends Boyd Tinsley from the Dave Matthews Band and Venus and Serena Williams to his fans. His confidence on the court didn’t totally carry over into the spot light as Andy joked that he can play at the US Open but I get a bit nervous talking in front of all of you. Then his mother and the Foundation’s Chairwoman, Blanche Roddick, took to the spotlight and gave a powerful and touching opening that touched your heart, making you be happy to take out your wallets.

The live auction began and bidding to win great items such as a Super Bowl weekend package made those paddles and bids fly high. After a tasty meal, exclusive items with their new owners, and wearing out your dancing shoes, the evening came to an end but the festivities were still be to anticipated as tennis with Agassi is still to come.

Thank you to all of Andy’s fans, sponsors, and guests who came and donated for the hundreds of children who the Andy Roddick Foundation supports. This weekend wouldn’t be such a success without you! Now, the fun continues.
