After spending the afternoon sightseeing at the Vienna opera house, Andy was ready to produce a riot on the court…and he didn’t disappoint. Andy routed Acasuso! Backed up with a high quality first serve percentage of 80%, Andy capitalised on all three of his break points and Acasuso was placed on the back foot in every service game. Seven aces later and Andy had claimed the first set 6-0.
Acasuso found his footing in the second set, and was much stronger on his own serve. Andy’s own serving hardly diminished and the two were caught in a deadlock. Andy had two match points at 6-5, but Acasuso strung out the inevitable for a few more minutes. Andy hit 19 aces in the match, and some of these proved crucial in the tie break. Two early mini breaks was all he needed to grab the win against Acasuso.
This win marks a great start to Andy’s indoor season! Next up is Richard Gasquet!
