Race to Shanghai: Update!

It’s been a week since we last checked in with the scoreboard on the Race to Shanghai. Most of the contenders weren’t playing this last week, but there has been a little movement on the table!

So who were the movers and shakers of this week? Novak Djokovic saw the most action. Winning the title in Metz, he leap-frogged Murray and Ferrero, moving from 20 to 18 in the Race. Andy Murray squandered more race points with his second early loss in two weeks.

For the guys in the thick of things, there was slight edging, but no changing of positions. Tommy Robredo moved himself to within a point of Andy’s compatriot James Blake, but didn’t get enough points to over take him.

So how does this bode for Andy? Well, he’s still standing at 434 points, just two behind Ljubicic. Andy will re-join the Race next week though, along with most of the top 10. Many of his closest rivals in the Race to the Masters Cup will be joining him in Vienna. Ljubicic, Nalbandian, Baghdatis and Haas will be competing with Andy next week to try and grab a few more points for their total.
