Update on the Race to Shanghai
The race to Shanghai is hotting up at the moment on the ATP tour. With less than a month to go until the prestigious Tennis Masters Cup arrives in Shanghai, there is a whole host of players making a last minute dash for the points which just might make a difference.

Currently, only two players have qualified for the event, which welcomes the eight best players from 2006. They are of course Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, unquestionably the two players with the most success this year. But, right behind them is our very own Andy! Since Jimmy Connors took over Andy has won the Masters Series in Cincinnati and reached the US Open final – giving him the points to place him at number three in the Indesit ATP 2006 Race.

The points are very close amongst the rest of the field though. Between Andy and the player currently in eighth place (Marcos Baghdatis) there is just 65 points at stake. There is less than a hundred points between Baghdatis and Radek Stepanek who is in 14th position. So it’s definitely all to play for in the next few weeks!

This week points are being hotly contested in Mumbai, Bangkok and Palermo. Make sure you stay tuned here at AndyRoddick.com as we bring you regular updates on the movers and shakers in the run in to Shanghai, with special mention of course for how Andy’s chances are of making it into the elite eight man field. At the moment it’s looking good – go Andy!
